The PAC Master

Hornblasters generates a lot of empty cardboard. As a shipping and receiving company we’ve tried our best to re-use boxes whenever we can. Reusing boxes saves us money and more importantly saves the environment. In the old days, we would have to pay the recycling company to come pick up and dispose of all our corrugated waste. Or Matt would just get crazy and burn them out behind the warehouse (JK!). One day while unpacking an incoming shipment, Chris Reed noticed a strange piece of packing material that looked like a not so tasty breakfast waffle.

Realizing what it was he shared the idea to us all! We found a used cardboard shredder for sale online, and had it delivered only to find that it runs on 3 phase electricity. So, we purchased a 3 phase rotary converter from ebay and had it all installed by Pattie Electric. The machine turns our old garbage boxes into high quality packing material! The Schleicher PacMaster 343-4IS is an industrial cardboard shredder that’s sole purpose is to make use of corrugate that would otherwise be disposed of. This machine not only saves our company time and money, but lessens the amount of waste we produce throughout operation.

The shredder is portable and convenient to use on a daily basis. The boxes we would have previously recycled are simply flattened and fed through the PacMaster inlet, where specially designed cutting shafts turn the cardboard into bulky packing mats. We can then use the mats to protect our products, even the most sensitive goods, during transport. The Pacmaster is just one of many ways HornBlasters strives to help the environment, through Eco-friendly practices and products.

Hang 10

Hang 10!

The HornBlasters team likes to let off a little steam every once and a while.  A few weekends ago our intention was to do just that, at a place called Adrenalina.  It’s an indoor surf spot in the International Mall, located in Tampa.  As many of us had no experience surfing or even riding any type of board, we were wiping out left and right, which led to tons of comic relief!

Nick, on the other hand, actually rides his skateboard from time to time; he was able to pick up surfing without a problem.  Check out the attached photos, Nick aka ‘Tony Hawk’ was the only one ripping up the waves.  As for the rest of us, we were all trying our best just to stay on the board and off of our faces.

After about 20 minutes, we threw in the towel on the board surfing and started to have our own kind of fun.  The team gave the boogie boards a shot, and even tried to surf without a board, which ended in some pretty hilarious failures!  The operator even tricked Nick by shutting off the water as he attempted to catch a wave.   The operator then showed us how powerful the waves of Adrenalina could be, turning them off and on, engulfing the entire crew!

Indoor surfing was an awesome experience.  Everyone was able to bond a little more, and we had the opportunity to go surfing while it was fifty degrees outside.  Yeah, we know this isn’t cold for most of you, but for us Floridians it sure is!

Truckin’ Magazine Tech Feature

Thanks for coming back and checking out our blog!  We promise to have new and exciting material for our readers to view in the upcoming months.

This month we had our Shocker horns, included in our Conductor’s Special Train horn kits, featured in the March issue of Truckin’ Magazine.  The horns were placed on a vehicle with Air Ride, using the truck’s existing air system to power one of our loudest horns.  The install was quick and easy, mounting our horns on an ‘09 Dodge Ram named “Black Sheep.” Not only did they love the product’s quality and design, but they also mentioned that these bad boys were a “BLAST”!
Our Shocker horns are made here in the USA, include a 2 year warranty, and each bell is hand tuned to a specific musical note. When chimed together, they imitate an ACTUAL locomotive horn. A characteristic that can’t be claimed by the average three chime chrome model. No vehicle is too small to boast this incredible product. Truckin’s “Black Sheep” installation is a perfect example of how these horns should be properly mounted, and put to use.
This isn’t our first rodeo with Truckin’ magazine, and it sure as heck won’t be our last. They’ve done quite a few installs and tech articles about our train horn systems.  Truckin’ subscribers should see these in their mail box any day now.  If you don’t already have a subscription to Truckin’, head to your local news stands and grab your copy!

Happy New Year!

On behalf of HornBlasters, we would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2011!

As many of you witnessed firework shows and sipped on ‘the bubbly’ at midnight, a few of us die hard train horn fanatics went out, got in our cars and trucks, and BLASTED the New Year in!

Might we add a customer’s response, “Not only did I blast for the New Year, but I literally drained my tank 3 times back to back!  I  had a few neighbors come outside and cheer me on, while the others hated my existence.  Oh well, it’s New Years right!?

Wrapping up the end of 2010, HornBlasters has added a few new products to the line up.  Some of you may have even had the great surprise of unwrapping some of these during the holiday season.  We have recently redesigned our PsychoBlasters & Caboose horns with a ½” hook up, allowing for maximum air flow. Besides getting the most output possible from these little bad boys, they’re also available in a beautiful chrome finish.

These horns are great for the individual who is either just getting into air horns, looking for something louder than their factory model, or thinking about adding a new sound to their existing system.  Now, for you guys that don’t have a horn kit yet, we didn’t leave you out.  If you didn’t get the chance to purchase one of our powerful horn systems over the holidays… don’t worry!  HornBlasters is still running amazing sales on the kits that make honking your horn, put a smile on your face.

For the New Year we have some good stuff lined up. Aside from website updates and upgrades, we’ll be launching a few new products very soon! Check back with HornBlasters, to stay up to date. Until the next one…BLAST ON!
