Hornblasters generates a lot of empty cardboard. As a shipping and receiving company we’ve tried our best to re-use boxes whenever we can. Reusing boxes saves us money and more importantly saves the environment. In the old days, we would have to pay the recycling company to come pick up and dispose of all our corrugated waste. Or Matt would just get crazy and burn them out behind the warehouse (JK!). Realizing what it was he shared the idea to us all! We found a used cardboard shredder for sale online, and had it delivered only to find that it runs on 3 phase electricity. So, we purchased a 3 phase rotary converter from ebay and had it all installed by Pattie Electric. The machine turns our old garbage boxes into high quality packing material! The Schleicher PacMaster 343-4IS is an industrial cardboard shredder that’s sole purpose is to make use of corrugate that would otherwise be disposed of. This machine not only saves our company time and money, but lessens the amount of waste we produce throughout operation.
The shredder is portable and convenient to use on a daily basis. The boxes we would have previously recycled are simply flattened and fed through the PacMaster inlet, where specially designed cutting shafts turn the cardboard into bulky packing mats. We can then use the mats to protect our products, even the most sensitive goods, during transport. The Pacmaster is just one of many ways HornBlasters strives to help the environment, through Eco-friendly practices and products.
